Star Wars is one of the most successful franchises of all time and with one of the biggest followings, with fans scattered all over the world, but can they all enjoy the saga on Netflix? The Star Wars universe began in 1977 with the film now known as Star Wars: A New Hope, followed in 1980 by The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in 1983. These are collectively known as “the original trilogy”.
A prequel trilogy was released between 1999 and 2005, and the franchise is still expanding with the sequel trilogy, with the final installment, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, marking the end of the Skywalker saga that was built since the first film. Rounding up this part of history of a galaxy far, far away is the anthology series, with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story. With so many titles as part of the Star Wars universe, surely some of them should be available on Netflix.
The original, prequel, and sequel trilogies are available on Netflix, but like with many other big titles, it depends on the region. A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return Of The Jedi are available on Netflix Argentina, México, and Brazil. Return of the Jedi can also be streamed in Belgium. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith are also streaming in Argentina, México, and Brazil. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is available on Netflix India and México, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi can be found on Netflix US (although it’s set to leave in December 2019), Canada, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
As for the anthology series, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is on Netflix UK, and Solo: A Star Wars Story can be streamed in the US and Canada. With Disney+ launching in November 2019 and all Star Wars films being available from day one, Netflix users in the US shouldn’t expect them to be added to the catalog. For now, those in the US, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand will have to wait until Disney+ is available to enjoy the Star Wars saga on streaming.
Those lucky Netflix users in México, Argentina, and Brazil can keep on enjoying the entire Star Wars saga on Netflix, as Disney+ will take some time to get there. Fans in the US can still enjoy The Last Jedi before The Rise of Skywalker is released, though, so they’re not completely left out of the fun - and they can enjoy Solo: A Star Wars Story, just in case they want to revisit this particular adventure.
