We filed a half bowl with water and dipped the smartphone for 30 seconds. This smartphone, too, passed with flying colors without any problem. This device came up with flying colors, and everything was working just fine. So we can say this device is splashproof and safe to use in a rainy season or any unfavorable conditions. But do remember this is not a flagship as it does not comes with an IP67 rating, so we advise not to submerge this device in water for a long time.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max features a glass body design and has a punch-hole display with the same 6.67-inch display and FHD+ resolution and features a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back and a brightness of 450 nits which sounds excellent. Technically speaking, we didn’t find any difference in both the displays. The main difference lies in the camera department and the storage and RAM options. This device also features a quad camera setup. The primary is a 64MP sensor, and there is an ultra-wide 8MP sensor, a 5MP sensor for macro shots. It also supports 4K video recording. The camera on the front is 32MP.
The battery is of 5020mah here and supports fast charging and gets an inbox fast charger of 18W. The RAM options here have increased by an 8GB variant, and the storage remains the same. This device has the same processor as the smaller sibling the 720G clocked at 2.3Ghz, which handles every task thrown with ease. Also, this device has all the required sensors and fingerprint scanner as well, although both the phones are the same in their specification chart on paper, at least.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max Waterproof test
Now we got our hands on the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. We again started testing it in and out as the guys at Xiaomi informed us that this smartphone also sports splashproof design. It is rated IP54 waterproof, but we will test it to the extreme.

Conclusion
After thoroughly checking both the devices, we reached to the outcome. Both the devices are splashproof and upto some extent dustproof also. So both of these devices are upto our liking as both the devices survived the waterproof test. However, if you ask whether the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max Waterproof smartphone, then the answer would be no. They are not fully waterproof but splashproof.
As both the devices come with an IP54 rating. But our recommendation would be Redmi Note 9 Pro Max because of more RAM and better camera setup. This makes both the devices full bang for the buck. That’s all from us.
