Starring John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, and Abbie Cornish, it follows Jack as he navigates his way through a dangerous operation seeking out a terrorist. While the first couple of episodes start off well, it does lag a little in the middle. Then it picks up quickly, with the second half resolving many of the storylines.

Still, there were a few things we were left wondering about. With that in mind, we explore Jack Ryan: 6 Things We Hope Are Resolved in Season 2 (& 4 Things That Most Likely Will Remain A Mystery).

RESOLVED: TONY

We get it. Their dealings with Tony show some of the types of unsavory characters they have to negotiate with in order to get things done in certain regions. But Jack’s reaction to Tony was the right call, and while it might be necessary to have dealings with him, it would be great for them to put a stop to his operation of selling women.

Tony was a slimeball who, at times, was made to seem inappropriately sympathetic and even a bit charismatic. This depiction was tempered, however, with reminders of exactly what he does for a living.

REMAIN A MYSTERY: MORE EBOLA PATIENTS

This was a storyline that took a while to build up, but once the terrorist’s motives were revealed, it was resolved pretty quickly. There is still the issue of how many people the hostages came in contact with.

And while it’s likely we’re supposed to assume everything turned out okay and no one else was infected, it stands to reason that there were potentially others exposed to the virus.

RESOLVED: JACK AND CATHY’S RELATIONSHIP

At this point, while Jack and Cathy seem to be on good terms, especially with him telling her about his past, it’s possible there can be some unresolved issues. After all, it’s not every day you learn your significant other is a CIA officer.

On top of that, he might be going out of the country on a regular basis and the dangers of the job will likely put her in danger as well. If this is something that has to be dealt with, it can cause major problems in their relationship. The conflict created and resolved would make for a solid storyline.

RESOLVED: GREER’S NEW JOB

While it’s possible that Greer’s part in the show is finished, we hope that’s not the case. Greer is important to the show and the dynamic between him and Jack was one of the most interesting parts of the first season.

Greer’s depth as a character also added another interesting aspect to the series, with the subtle ways his issues within the bureau were navigated. There are still some unresolved questions about his past and how that might come into play.

REMAIN A MYSTERY: SAMIR

While it’s a safe bet to assume that Samir’s part in the story is over, it will still probably remain a mystery as to how he will view the events that unfolded involving his father. While Jack saved him and the rest of his family, Suleiman was felled by his hand.

Though Samir clearly understood the danger the man posed, he was still rather innocent and looked to his father for approval. The bond of family obligation might have some influence on how he sees that later in life.

RESOLVED: MORE INFORMATION ABOUT JACK’S PAST

As it stands, there is a lot audiences learned about Jack’s past in the first season. The biggest reveal was, of course, how he got the scars on his back. While he certainly had a fair amount of self doubt about his decision making after feeling responsible for the lives of all those on the transport helicopter, he seemed fo regain much of that by the end. But what other things in his past might come up?

This would be a fascinating thread to unravel as he moves higher up the food chain in his line of work with the CIA. There could be potential issues that come into play that the bureau has to deal with as well, making for a more tense set of circumstances.

RESOLVED: JACK’S NEXT MOVE

Naturally, season two will reveal more of what Jack intends to do, now that he’s been given a big promotion. As far as the character going to Russia, that remains to be seen.

It’s a line worth pursuing and will likely come into play or be the full focus for the second season. It makes sense, given that there’s a lot to work with there. Regardless, there’s little doubt we’ll know exactly what Jack’s next move is in the second season.

REMAIN A MYSTERY: WHO WAS THE CLEANER WORKING FOR?

In the last episode, we saw the elimination of the terrorist who designed the device to be used to contaminate the hospital. The question there is, exactly who was the cleaner assassin working for?

With Suleiman gone, the case was closed so there would be little need to the up loose ends unless there was someone further up that wanted to make sure no one talked. Also, what does the cleaner know and how much of a threat, if any, will he pose in season two? However, it is possible none of these questions will be answered.

REMAIN A MYSTERY: WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO SULEIMAN’S FAMILY?

Now that the threat is over, it’s assumed that Suleiman’s family will be safe. But their fate will likely remain a mystery and be unexplored in season two, though it’s possible. Will they continue to be watched by the CIA? Most likely.

But what about the associates of Suleiman and others connected to him? Will they consider the family traitors and come after them, or will they remain safe? Either way, it’s not probable that the storyline will be expanded upon, though it could prove to be interesting if it was.

RESOLVED: WHAT TOPICS WILL SEASON TWO EXPLORE?

Obviously, with season two already on the way, we don’t have to wonder what season two would have explored, the way we would have if the show has not been renewed. But for now, fans of Jack Ryan are curious as to where season two will go.

What topics and relationships will be explored? Will there be several new main cast characters to push season two and future storylines along? What challenges will Jack face as he gets used to his new position and power? Definitely a lot to look forward to in the new season.
