James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has reportedly found a voice for its King Shark in Steve Agee. Although little is known about the plot of the director’s first DC film, production on The Suicide Squad is set to begin in September. There has been a bit of confusion as to whether it will be a sequel or a reboot, but several characters from the 2016 film are set to reprise their roles, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis as Rick Flagg, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller, respectively. There will be new faces as well, such as Storm Reid, who will play the daughter of Idris Elba’s character. The actor is rumored to be portraying Bronze Tiger. Of all the characters set to appear, Gunn seems the most hyped for King Shark.

Created by Karl Kesel, King Shark began his comic journey as a Superboy villain in 1994. Also known as Nanaue, the humanoid shark soon became a member of the Suicide Squad. The auteur’s love of the character has been made quite clear. Gunn received two incredible King Shark cakes for his birthday earlier this month. He also posted pictures of the King Sharkade, a King Shark-themed arcade that Microsoft gifted to the cast and crew of The Suicide Squad. With all the hype, it was only a matter of time before Gunn found the right person to voice the finned villain and it seems that he has.

Now, Deadline reports that Agee has joined the cast of The Suicide Squad, most likely as the voice of King Shark. The comedian has an extensive TV resume, having appeared in The Sarah Silverman Program, You’re the Worst and Superstore, to name a few. Agee has also previously worked with Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, in which he played a member of the Ravagers. Another Guardians of the Galaxy alum, Michael Rooker was initially rumored to be in talks for King Shark, but the actor quickly shot down the story.

King Shark isn’t the only lesser-known villain that Gunn has added to The Suicide Squad’s roster. David Dastmalchian will appear as Polka-Dot Man and Daniela Melchior is set to play Ratcatcher in the film. This will not be King Shark’s first live-action adaptation as the villain has previously appeared in The Flash TV show. However, this will be the character’s first big-screen outing. Agee is a good choice, as the guy who’s voicing the giant humanoid shark obviously needs to have expert comedic delivery - though it’s likely that Gunn will make the character more than a mere punchline.

Gunn has already proven that he can take a ragtag group of characters that most casual fans don’t know much about and turn them into household names. It’s too early to tell if he can do the same with The Suicide Squad, but the director obviously has a handle on what characters comic fans would love to see on the big screen. Many of them are just as excited to see King Shark’s feature film debut as he is.
