James Van Der Beek says Dancing with the Stars helped him deal with his wife’s miscarriage. The actor was thankful that he had an outlet to pour his heart into while he healed from the loss.
James Van Der Beek is a well-known American actor who played Dawson Leery in the WB series, Dawson’s Creek. He also starred in CSI: Cyber, Pose, Varsity Blues, and The Rules of Attraction and fans have now been able to watch Van Der Beek take to the dance floor and dance the tango, cha-cha, and waltz all with the goal to win the famed Mirror Ball Trophy.
Van Der Beek had been making the headlines for his carefully choreographed dances and high judges scored but sadly the most recent headline had to do with his wife having suffered from a miscarriage. On Monday nights episode Van Der Beek and his dance partner, Emma Slater were eliminated from the competition. The dancing king opened up to People and explained how Dancing with The Stars had been contributory in helping him cope with the loss of his sixth baby.
The actor praised the show and the ABC network for how they both helped him and lent supportive shoulders to lean on. Professional dancer Slater explained how her partner needed the show saying that Van Der Beek was grateful to have the show as an outlet so he could form a physical expression of how he felt. The Dawson Creek’s actor told fans that he did not want to fall into a depression but rather keep his sixth child close to his heart. The eliminated dancer told fans that his wife, Kimberly was his rock and pushed him to continue to dance in the competition even after having learned of their loss. Van Der Beek went on to say that his wife was not having the sadness or allowing her husband to stay home as she made sure he showed up to his dance practices.
Salter continued to brag about her celebrity dance partner by saying she was saddened that Kimberly would not be able to watch her husband dance another week. Even though the actor did not make it to the finale, he was still pleased with how well he did and ended up being impressed with himself. And even though the couple is mourning the loss of a child, his fans are thankful that they still have Gwendolyn, Emilia, Annabel Leah, Olivia, and Joshua to look out for their parents and keep them positive.
