Jersey Shore’s Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is under an emergency protective order to stay away from his girlfriend, Jen Harley. Their recent heated argument led to the police being called in to break up the disturbance.
The Bronx native was arrested in Los Angeles on Friday, October 4 for felony domestic violence against his on-again/off-again girlfriend Harley. The incident was confirmed by a Los Angeles Police Department statement, which read that officers responded to a battery in progress at around 2:40 in the morning. The police determined that Ortiz-Magro and Harley were involved in an argument that turned physical. The police then claimed that Ortiz-Magro was uncooperative, and they were forced to use minor force, tasing him.
The Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star is under an emergency protective order in which the Los Angeles Police Department instantaneously issued after his arrest for the domestic violence incident against his girlfriend. Law enforcement told TMZ that Ortiz-Magro must stay at least 100 yards away from Harley. The source also revealed that if Ortiz-Magro needed to gather up his belongings from her Las Vegas house, he would need to be escorted by a police officer.
The protective order is set until October 11, which would mark the one-week anniversary of the reality star’s arrest. Harley was told she had the right to go back to court to request a temporary restraining order against her boyfriend if she would still want him to stay away from her. The only silver lining to the protective order for Ortiz-Magro is it does not stop him from seeing his 18-month-old daughter, Ariana Sky.
TMZ aired a surveillance video on their site the morning of the incident, showing Harley holding on tightly to her daughter in an attempt to hide from Ortiz-Magro. The Jersey Shore star would need the help of a third person to be able to interact with his daughter, as he still would not be allowed near Harley. Ortiz-Magro insisted that the night of the altercation he was trying to protect his daughter from Harley, saying that he had taken Ariana away from Harley and locked himself in the rented Airbnb. This was when the police knocked down the doors, tased Ortiz-Magro, and arrested him for kidnapping.
Fans can not seem to get over the seriousness of these charges against Ortiz-Magro. It truly looked as if the reality star had made a positive and concerted effort to change his ways after leaving his one-month rehab stint. For months now, the roommates and viewers have believed Harley was a critical part of the demise of an MTV fan favorite, but now it is hard to know who is really telling the truth. One can only hope that, at some point, Ortiz-Magro leaves his toxic relationship once and for all.
