The Jersey Shore’s The Situation is officially out of prison. The reality star stepped foot on free ground early this morning, into the arms of his beautiful wife, family, and friends.
In 2014, the Sorrentino brothers were first indicted after their failure to pay taxes on 8.9 million dollars of income between the years of 2010 and 2012. In April of 2017, the Sorrentino brothers were additionally charged by the Department of Justice, in which both brothers plead guilty and could have faced a maximum of 5 years behind bars. The Situation was required to pay $123,913 in restitution and a fine for $10,000, which he did before starting his jail sentence, and he had been locked away in the federal prison since January of 2019.
Mike Sorrentino (aka “The Situation”) is officially a free man. The reality star was released at 8:30 am from the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, New York. The Jersey Shore star was surrounded by his happy family and possibly his other Jersey Shore roommates. According to TMZ, several of the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation cast booked flights to the East Coast straight away upon learning of his release. They wanted to make sure that they were there to support their friend (and possibly record the moment for the hit MTV show). Sorrentino’s wife, Lauren, commented that they are very happy to have this phase of their life now behind them. They made sure to thank their fans for their outpouring of support and kind words, ending their message by saying they look forward to making their family whole with “baby situations.”
The MTV crew had been at every occasion in regard to his legal battles to film, and sources say that the film crew was spotted at the same house where Snooki, Ronnie, Vinny, Mike, and JWoww shot the last season. While the cast did try and support The Situation while he was away by visiting him and even going to Washington D.C. to try, under the banner of “free Sitch,” to convince President Trump to release him early, the reality star seemed at peace with the time he spent behind bars.
As true Jersey Shore fans know, Sorrentino had started reforming himself long before his jail time and are more than pleased with his outcome. On the latest season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, viewers watched as Sorrentino kept the faith, saying, “We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can’t wait to show the world ours.” Fans can look forward to the comeback of the king when they watch the next season of the MTV show.
