Jessica Simpson revealed that John Mayer had a sexual obsession with her. No matter how famous a person becomes they will always have to deal with ex-boyfriends.
Simpson first started her career as a Christian singer but soon found that her body made it hard for record companies to want to sign her as some felt she did not look wholesome enough. Simpson topped the charts at the same time as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. In the summer of 2003, MTV aired Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which starred Nick Lachey and his then-wife Simpson. The two originally met when Lachey worked on one of Jessica’s music videos in 1999. The couple married in 2002, but in 2005 announced that they were divorcing.
The “ I Think I’m In Love” singer opened up recently to People about her past relationship with ex, John Mayer. In the singer’s new memoir, Open Book, which is due to hit bookshelves on Feb. 4, she shared new details about her life in Hollywood. She and Mayer met back in 2005 when they bumped into one another at a pre-Grammys party. Simpson claimed that after their first meeting that Mayer would send her notes. After she split with her husband and 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey, Mayer made his move, telling Simpson that he wanted all of her “or nothing.”
The mother of three wrote in her memoir that Mayer told her over and over that he was obsessed with her, “sexually and emotionally.” The “With You” singer did admit that she had an intense connection with the “Your Body Is A Wonderland” crooner but said she often felt she was not intelligent enough for him which made her feel very insecure. Simpson goes on to tell her readers that he was so “clever” and spoke in each conversation as if it were a competition that he was meant to win. According to Simpson, the feeling of self-doubt attributed to her drinking to help calm her nerves.
Fans will recall in 2010 when their relationship ended, Mayer did a tell-all interview with Playboy where he called Simpson “sexual napalm.” He told the periodical that Simpson was like a drug to him and that she sexually drove him crazy. Simpsons’ memoir reveals that she was disappointed to be called out as a sexual object. Even though the singer was left embarrassed, she has been sober since 2017 and. She is now in a healthy relationship, married to Eric Johnson, who has gotten sober in solidarity with his wife of five-plus years.
