New Star Wars trilogy actors John Boyega and Oscar Isaac - who play Finn and Poe Dameron, respectively - hilariously react to a mashup image of their faces. Finn and Poe joined the galaxy far, far away in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which kicked off a new trilogy of movies in 2015. The pair returned, along with the last member of the new trilogy, Rey (Daisy Ridley), in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2017. This year, the Skywalker Saga will end with Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which also concludes the new trilogy.

Though Rey, Finn and Poe haven’t been around as long as Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), they have plenty of fans in their own right. In fact, fans can discuss their favorite characters with even more ease thanks to the rise of online fandom since the Star Wars prequel trilogy. One popular ship (short for “relationship”) among fans of the new Star Wars trilogy is Finn and Poe, called Stormpilot. The actors who portray Finn and Poe have even acknowledged Stormpilot in various interviews and public appearances. Now in a new social media interaction, they joke about what Finn and Poe’s baby would look like.

On Instagram a few days ago, Boyega posted a mashup image of his and Isaac’s faces, asking who created it. Then on his Instagram Story today, Boyega posted a screenshot of the text conversation he had with Isaac in which the two reacted to the mashup image. Isaac, for his part, hilariously comments, “That’s our babe.” See Boyega’s original Instagram post and a screenshot of his Story below.

The interaction between Boyega and Isaac is hilarious, and offers fans some insight into the actors’ friendship offscreen. Certainly, their chemistry on screen is undoubtedly part of the inspiration for Stormpilot, and to see it translated to the real world in a text message is surely fun for fans. Even if it’s in no way confirmation that Finn and Poe’s relationship in The Rise of Skywalker will become romantic, it’s certainly entertaining to see Boyega and Isaac reference the ship a little bit.

Considering how beloved the characters of Finn and Poe have become, along with the actors who portray them, it’s sure to be bittersweet when their story in the Skywalker Saga concludes this year. Although Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy teased that the new trilogy characters could potentially return in the future, Boyega thinks he’s done playing Finn. Whether that means Finn gets a satisfying ending in The Rise of Skywalker remains to be seen. But if Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker really is the last time we’ll see Rey, Finn and Poe, hopefully they’ll all get the endings they deserve (even if that doesn’t include making Stormpilot canon).
