Several character posters have been released for John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, ahead of the new trailer launching on Thursday. With just under two months to go before John Wick takes on, well, the world, Lionsgate has been ramping up its marketing for the latest installment in the Keanu Reeves-led action franchise. Reeves is once again joined here by the series’ writer Derek Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski, who helmed John Wick: Chapter 2 on his own after he and David Leitch split directorial duties on the first movie (though only Stahelski received credit).
Parabellum will pick up right after the ending to John Wick: Chapter 2, which concluded with John being excommunicated from The Continental hotel chain and getting an hour-long head start before a $14 million contract on his life goes open. As such, the third movie will follow John (Reeves) as he takes on pretty much every assassin that either crosses his path or comes looking to collect on the bounty on his life (and, in some cases, get a little revenge in the process). Fans got a small glimpse at some of the film’s newcomers in the first John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum trailer, as well as the teaser videos that dropped online yesterday.
With just under a day to go now before the film’s second trailer arrives, IGN has unveiled no less than 10 new character posters for John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. Naturally, there are some familiar faces included here, like The Continental’s head honcho Winston (Ian McShane), its New York concierge Charon (Lance Reddick), and John’s frenemy, The Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), as well as John himself and his pit bull. However, as you can see, there are several newcomers highlighted here, too.
Among the franchise newcomers pictured here as Halle Berry as Sofia, John’s friend and fellow assassin (who, like him, has a fondness for pet dogs); Angelica Huston as The Director, a powerful member of the High Table that rules the assassin underworld; Asia Kate Dillon as The Adjudicator, another member of the High Table; and Mark Dacascos as Zero, a killer for hire who wants some payback against John to go with the $14 million bounty. These posters also offer the first proper look at Jason Mantzoukas as an assassin known as The Tick Tock Man and Saïd Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman) as a fellow referred to as The Elder. As one would imagine, some of these people are out to help John, while others are, well, interested in doing the opposite.
With such a larger cast in play, it’ll be interesting to see which characters in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum wind up being more memorable than others. Contract killers like Ms. Perkins (Adrianne Palicki) and Marcus (Willem Dafoe) certainly left an impression in the first John Wick, as did assassins like Cassian (Common) and Ares (Ruby Rose) in Chapter 2, even with relatively limited screen time. It remains to be seen which - if any - of the new additions in Chapter 3 become fan-favorites, but The Tick Tock Man already feels like a potential scene-stealer, if only because the role sounds like a real departure from Mantzoukas’ typical comedic offerings on shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place.
